The primary driving force in my life for over 42 years has been my relationship with Jesus Christ. He continues to guide me in every aspect of my life. Without Christ, my life would have no meaning.
While in training during my service in the Navy, I came face-to-face with the person of Jesus Christ and his unconditional love for me. Once I believed the good news of the gospel I was changed forever. One drink of the “living water”, and I discovered I would never thirst again! Becoming a Christ follower does not remove the difficulties and heartaches of life. However, we do have the confidence that we do not face these challenges alone. God promises us that He will never leave us or forsake us, but that He will carry us through them as we trust in Him. Have you accepted His free gift of forgiveness and eternal life?
Artistically, many masters have influenced me in my journey as an artist. Giants of the past such as N. C. Wyeth, J. W. Waterhouse, Maxfield Parrish, and John Singer Sargent have influenced and instructed me in every aspect of rendering the heart and soul of man. Contemporaries such as James Bama, Jacob Collins, Michael Dudash, Anthony Ryder and my friend and mentor Henry Wingate are all experts of the human form and continue to inspire me.
My greatest inspiration comes from God Himself. He created all that exists and the crown of His creation, mankind, stands alone as the greatest work of art. As we are made in His likeness, I will never tire of using the human form to express myself artistically.
As I paint, my prayer is that others will see the beauty of God’s creation in my work. I continue to strive for excellence in all I do to glorify Him and look forward to the day when I see Christ. My prayer is that He will say on that day, “Well done, good and faithful servant …” (Matthew 25:21)
